Dit is het Karmelietessenklooster. In de 16e eeuw vestigde de broederschap van Sint-Jacob van Compostela zich in dit pand. In die periode werd al melding gemaakt van een hospitaal en een kapel. In 1846 werd het gebouw ingericht als slotklooster van de karmelietessenorde. Momenteel telt de gemeenschap elf geprofeste zusters die –volgens de website van de Teresiaanse Karmel- ‘wakend in gebed, in totale zelfgave en arbeid’ het vuur van de liefde brandend houden.

Neatly tucked in between houses, is the Carmelite convent. The facade is so unobtrusive you could walk by without ever realizing the rich history of this building. In the 16th century the brotherhood of Santiago de Compostella settled here. A hospital and chapel were already mentioned at that time. In 1846, the building was converted into the convent we now know. At present, the community consists of 11 professed sisters.

Le couvent des Carmélites est soigneusement niché entre les maisons. La façade est si discrète que vous pourriez passer devant sans jamais vous rendre compte de la riche histoire de ce bâtiment. Au XVIe siècle, la confrérie de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle s'est installée ici. Un hôpital et une chapelle étaient déjà mentionnés à cette époque. En 1846, le bâtiment a été transformé en couvent que nous connaissons aujourd'hui. Actuellement, la communauté se compose de 11 sœurs professes.
