This fountain was built in 1852 in honour of the first Belgian queen, Louise-Marie d’Orléans, who married Leopold I in 1832 and died in 1850. Experiencing a troubling déja-vu as a first time visitor? Worry not! As this piece was directly inspired by the fountain of the Place de la Concorde in Paris, it can look rather familiar. Ours, however is a smaller version, but still great in design. Architect was Charles Vanderstraeten.
