Hospital of Our Lady

Hospital of Our Lady in Oudenaarde

The hospital was founded in the 13th century and was originally situated outside the city gates. At the time it served as a refuge for pilgrims and travellers.

The complex of buildings is the result of various building phases from the 15th till the 19th century and reflects the turbulent history of the religious institutions.
The oldest part is the early 15th-century chapel (1409), which at one time was used as a ward. The convent itself is grouped around the 16th-century cloisters and a beautiful garden.

It also houses a Louis XVI-room with tapestries from Oudenaarde.
