Quarter of Pamele

Quarter of Pamele in Oudenaarde

Pamele’s origins can be found in the 13th century, when it was a separate, independent town on the right bank of the river Scheldt. It was only added to Oudenaarde in the 16th century.
That is why so many great historic buildings still can be found there: the Church of Our Lady of Pamele (1234), which is the classic example of the Scheldt Gothic style, the Convent of the Black Nuns, the House de Lalaing and the Maagdendale Abbey.

A special part of town waiting to be discovered !
